Valentine's debrief

okie, that's beside the point.

14 Feb is just like any other day on the calendar... just like 13 Feb or 15 Feb. is it really such a big deal, that people get esp touchy, depressed, grouchy or exhilarated? why huh?

sure i am a romantic, but then as a authentic romantic will tell u, if u have the love of ur life with u, everyday is valentine's day. and u dun nid no Steph Sun advert to tell u it's a day for diamonds and roses!

bobo did not give me flowers today, but he prepared a picnic by changi beach with takeaway sushi and red wine in plastic wine "glass". so cute right! and all my fav sushi n potato salad, he had wanted to get soft-shell crab but then by the time we get to eat it, it wud reali b SOFT-shell crab, so he didnt. it sounds damn romantic but we didnt stay for long, wud have loved to but this being a wkday nite, my red-plate bf must go home to rest. (unkers get tired easily la)

mayb i have realli matured over the years, i m not even angry for not receiving flowers! i guess not walkin in town area swarmed by gals with flowers in their arms helps a lot. no peer pressure mah. but imagine if i were in town with bobo, i'd b envying them for having silly bfs, and my bf wud b laughing at their bfs for being ripped off. wahhahaha

i cant rem how i spent my last vday. i was single, probably i have selectively deleted that day from my memory. i'll bet i quickly chabot home to sleep after work. but speaking to a few frens before vday dis yr make me wonder.

Are we defined by our relationship status?

as if it is shameful to b single, as if it is glamourous to b carrying flowers. flowers r meant to b an expression of love. why shd we stoop to comparing n showing off? i've heard more pathetic tales of gals calling their partners to send them flowers so as not to lose out to those who have received bouquets in the office. some even rumored the existence of females who order flower delivery to themselves so they dun lose out!!

at the end of the day, who r we deceiving? others? or ourselves?

some people r too eager to get attached. but i have learnt that love blossoms in the most accidental circumstances, but when it happens, there is no escape. being overly anxious just prematurely brings us face-to-face with all the wrong people, at all the wrong time. moreover we suffer unnecessary hurt!

it's sad, that people actually allow themselves to wallow over a silly date that is of no significance! we define the day, the day does NOT define us! if u cant stand the sight of couples mushy-ing in public, just go home! why behave as if the world owes u a living? do u scorn orchard road on xmas day as u do merchants on vday? strut thru vday with class n poise as a proud bachelor/maiden for goodness sakes! depression and self-pity is soooooo unglam n pathetic!

i dun tink it is sad to b single, i tink it is sadder when the right person comes along, n u r not financially/physically/emotionally ready to start a meaningful relationship with that person. i do confess i m a happier woman now, than when i was single. but that doesnt mean i have to b single n unhappy, now i m jus attached n happier.

there - i have come out of the closet to announce... yayee... dis coming friday, me n bobo wud have been together for 4 months *giggles* *blush*
